Employer: Core Music CIC
Position: Core Music Project Lead
Contract Type: Fixed term, 1 year
Hours: Part time, 25 hours per week, flexible subject to negotiation Application deadline: Monday, 5 July, 2021
Fixed Salary: £23,250 pro rata (net £15,500 for 25hpw)
Core Music in Hexham is a popular and effective community-based hub that promotes participation in music. We run a town centre music retail outlet and offer opportunities and encouragement to people to experience playing music in its many forms, with help to buy, supported use of instruments and equipment, and sharing of experience, knowledge and skills with each other.
We want to make music accessible to all and are looking for a creative and dynamic Project Lead to help us innovate and spread the opportunities we offer to more people, particularly to those who face barriers or who don’t think music is for them. Our Project Leader will collaborate with local arts and other organisations, organise and deliver music events, develop new music skills courses and seek funds for people who are economically disadvantaged to develop their skills. Your contribution will make all the difference to what we can and will do.
A key part of the role will be to manage the Key Change project, which aims to change the dynamic of youth music in the Tyne Valley by supporting young people to be the decision makers in the future of community youth music. The project will involve work with Queens Hall Arts and other community partners to form a consortium delivery model for future projects led by young people.
This appointment is initially for a one-year, fixed term, but we have part funding for another year and would expect additional project funding to be realised to see it continue for longer.
You will have a successful track record of developing and leading projects and some experiencing working in community music. You will have good networking and facilitation skills, be a competent organiser and bring energy and enthusiasm to our projects. You may be required to travel throughout the district, and support can be provided if access to a car and clean driving licence is not available.
